Before
I come to the main part of this article, tell me what is common between George
Yule, William Wedderburn, Alfred Webb, Henry Cotton and Annie Besant? Yes,
first is all the above happened to be British.
The second, more important, all of them have been the Presidents of the
Indian National Congress. As you may be aware, the Indian National Congress was
founded by an English Indian Civil Service officer, A.O. Hume in 1885 AD. Since
then, there have been so many changes in the Indian National Congress Party and
so many many times it has undergone split that one may have forgotten the
count. The funny thing- whenever there was split, the faction that was in power
boasted of its being the original and real Congress. Each warned us to be
Beware of the other. The Congress
undoubtedly has played the pivotal role in freedom struggle. Before and after
the independence, the Congress has been divided so many times that if you sit
down to write all about it, your write up will qualify as dissertation and may
earn Ph.D. for you.
The
funny thing- whenever a new Congress was formed it could not completely snap
off its umbilical cord from the original Congress. That explains suffixes and
prefixes viz. Congress (O) Congress (N) Congress (I) Congress (Urs) Congress A
to Z. There once was a division probably the first one into the
Liberals/Moderates and the Hardliners (1907) . The number of experiments that
have been done with the Congress has hardly been done with any other national
political party. But the Congress in power was always considered the real
Congress. The rest of the A to Zs either faded away from the political
firmament sooner or later or came back to dissolve their Party/Identity with
the Congress all over, popularly called 'Home-Coming' You should understand
that many parties came out of this Gangotri called Congress. Be it Samajwadi,
Lok Dal, Forward Block, Republican Party, Trinamool Congress etc. Shyama Prasad
Mukherji was in Nehru's cabinet, later separated and founded the Bharatiya Jana
Sangh in 1951. The Bharatiya Jana Sangh also took part in the first election of
India (1952) and won not one or two but three seats to the Parliament. The
founding fathers of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh were Shyamaprasad Mukherji, Deen
Dayal Upadhyay and Balraj Madhok.
America's
main two parties, the Democrat Party (election symbol donkey) was founded in
1828 and the Republican Party (election symbol elephant) was founded in 1854.
Remember, America became independent in 1776 AD. Similarly, the two main
parties of England, the Conservative Party (1834) Labour Party (1900), did not
suffer any major break up. First ever break up rather DOO (Difference Of
Opinion) between these parties was an issue-based difference. In America in
1860, the issue was 'slave system'. Back home it is more of a battle for power.
You may give whatever name you fancy as a poor cover-up. In heart of hearts we
all know the aim is high chair in the Conference Hall.
The
Congress made all efforts on its part but nothing could be done. Now whatever
the reason/reasons. The Congress has never lived so power starved. It is famine
& wilderness all around for more than a decade. If this depravation
continues, they (Congress men) will
forget how to rule. Before they forget, voters are bound to suffer selective
dementia. Politica leader or cine actor formula is same 'If you want to sell
yourself you have to be seen' what is
seen, is sold. Out of site out of mind. Also
out of E.V.M. panel. Jaishankar Prasad the great playwright says in one
of his plays, "The pearl called Ambition lives in the shell called
Ruthlessness." So, I believe! you request the British "Brother
!! please come back take care of our
Congress, you created. None knows better than you, you know it inside out, just
like the one who has created/installed the bank's safety system he also knows
loopholes and know how as to how to breach it silently without fanfare. This is
how they show in English Bank Heist films.
Just like the manufacturer of the car who is aware of all its nuts-bolts".
So
send them mercy petition: "Let us forget! In 1942, we had mistakenly
launched the 'Quit India' movement. Now we launch the movement 'British Come
back to India' No more 'Quit India' now with more vigour (quantitatively) it is
'Quickly Come to India' We regret 'Simon
Go Back' after repentance and due penance it is 'Simon Come Back'
